Prerequisites

Prior to enrolling in Asbestos Inspector Refresher, you must have completed the specified prerequisites (if you have not taken a prerequisite, you can click on the catalog code link to see a list of upcoming course sections):

Asbestos Inspector

Two things you should know about asbestos: 1) it is NOT currently banned in the United States, and 2) federal EPA and OSHA regulations require asbestos inspections prior to demolition or renovation (with some limited exceptions for residences). This three-day Asbestos Inspector training prepares you to become a licensed Asbestos Building Inspector. You will learn how to determine when an inspection is needed, procedures for conducting an asbestos building inspection, and how to take samples of suspect materials to submit to a laboratory for analysis. Students are evaluated upon course completion with a 50-question, multiple choice exam and must achieve a passing score of 70 percent in order to receive a course certificate. This SC-DHEC and NC-DHHS approved asbestos training may be used for licensing as an asbestos professional. For other state licensing, please call Karen Hampton at 864-250-8438 to inquire about specific state approvals.

Asbestos Inspector Refresher

Federal and state regulations require specific training for personnel involved in asbestos management. This 1/2-day refresher course reviews the contents of the initial Asbestos Inspector course. Participants will review sampling protocols and physical assessment procedures and explore current events and recent regulatory interpretations. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certificates of re-accreditation that may be used for licensing purposes.

SC-DHEC and NC-DHHS approved asbestos abatement training. Requires pre-notification to regulatory authorities and may be used for NC and SC licensing as an asbestos abatement professional. To inquire about licensing in other states, please call Karen Hampton at 864-250-8438.
