The Manual Machine - General Shop Basics course provides entry level training in the area of manual machining and helps ensure the fundamental understanding of the machining occupation. This blended course (48 lecture/lab and 34 online hours) provides an opportunity for non-skilled manufacturing job seekers the opportunity to obtain a basic entry-level skill set which will set them apart from other job seekers. Topics include: Basic shop equipment safety, set-up, and operation; measurement and measuring tool operation; manual lathe safety, set-up, and operation; vertical milling machine safety, set-up, and operation; and surface grinder safety, set-up, and operation. Successful course completers work as a machinist helper.
