Become a vital member of the healthcare team. You will be trained to collect blood samples which enable physicians to diagnose and treat illnesses. Course fee includes lecture, lab practice and 120 clinical hours. Successful completion of this course provides eligibility for the National Certification Exam.

REQUIREMENTS:

* High school diploma or GED

* 18 years of age

* Criminal background check

* Current Driver's License or State Issued ID

* CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider

* Preclinical Orientation for Continuing Education

* A completed physical form with documentation of positive titer levels for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (waiver acceptable), proof of Tetanus shot within the last 10 years and negative 2-STEP PPD test (MUST be series of 2).



The Phlebotomy Packets will be distributed via email prior to the start of class. Packets are not mailed out. Contact Rhonda Anderson at 250-8338 for additional information.

Notes:

REQUIRED: A criminal background check is mandatory! Students will receive a Criminal Background (CB) authorization form (cost for the CB is $35) with the phlebotomy packet (via email). Final acceptance into the program is dependent upon the background check results. Phlebotomy Packets sent out via email prior to class beginning. Students will be scheduled for 120 hours (3 weeks) of clinical externship during the last 6 weeks of the course. Clinicals are daytime hours, Monday - Friday. If you foresee difficulties completing the clinical component during these hours, you MUST discuss this issue with the program manager (Rhonda Anderson at 250-8338) PRIOR TO REGISTERING for the class. REQUIRED TEXT: DO NOT PURCHASE UNTIL 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CLASS - Phlebotomy Essentials 6th ed. Textbook Bundle, McCall and Tankersley, available at the Greenville Technical College bookstore. Do not purchase from an outside vendor. ADDITIONAL COSTS MAY INCLUDE: 1. BLS/CPR for the Healthcare Provider (XAHS 507); 2. Preclinical Orientation for Continuing Education (XAHS 547); 3. Hunter Green Scrubs, White Lab Jacket, White Clinical Shoes; 4. Mandatory Medical Documentation (reviewed during packet distribution). This course meets the requirements to take the ASCP National Phlebotomy Certification Exam. No class meeting on Memorial Day, May 28, 2018. TENATIVE CLINICAL ROTATION SCHEDULE: Clinical Rotation dates--Rotation 1 Clinical: 6/11/18 through 6/29/18; Rotation 2 Clinical: 7/9/18 through 7/27/18. Clinicals are DAY TIME HOURS. No clinical rotation during the week of July 4th, 7/2/2018 through 7/6/2018.
