This course will explore the different types of commercial photography from consumer based businesses, such as wedding and family photography to working for magazines, advertising agencies and other commercial markets. Students will shoot weekly assignments with emphasis on refining their techniques and style.
Students will learn advance lighting techniques, posing and working with models and help in finding their style. They will also learn basic retouching and post processing and how to streamline their workflow. They will receive challenging weekly assignments and critiques. We will also start to explore how to navigate the industry as a freelancer, how to deal with stock agencies and galleries. As well as getting work in related fields such as photo editors, in-house photographers, studio managers and photo art buyers.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Manually adjustable single lens reflex (SLR) digital camera, paper and pen, lens cleaning kit, and camera manual.

There will not be class the week of Thanksgiving!
