Pediatric Advanced Life Support emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

This course is designed for personnel who staff emergency departments, intensive care units, or critical care departments -- physicians, nurses, emergency technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may be called to respond and have the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage critical situations. Attendance in this course indicates you have understanding of heart rhythms.

You no longer need to renew your BLS in a separate course—this course now includes for all enrolled AHA BLS renewal certification in addition to the AHA PALS credential for successful completion. All participants must present printed non-expired AHA BLS credential and have all required textbooks.

Prerequisites:

• Current AHA BLS Provider status (must present non-expired card)

• PALS Precourse Self-Assessment (print and bring to class; required score of 70% or better; accessed along with other pre-course information via website listed on p.ii in student manual).

Participants who successfully complete all course requirements will receive both BLS Provider and PALS Provider Ecards within 3 business days.
