Have you ever wondered how a beautiful arrangement is made? Or, you get frustrated when trying to design the flowers you purchased from the grocery store? Or, maybe you are considering a new career, and are wondering if floral design is right for you? If so, then this class is for you!

This class is for the true beginner, or for the designer who would like to learn and practice floral fundamentals in a new way. Each class will build on itself, and give you the confidence and skills needed to create beautiful floral designs. Regarding the structure of each class, the first week is mostly lecture, and the next 3 weeks will be part lecture and part hands-on. You will be responsible to bring your floral tool box, specific fresh flowers and containers. A general syllabus of the class is:

Week 1: Know Your Toolbox and Test Your Skills! This class will be mostly lecture, going over all of the supply list, to make sure you have everything. We'll, also, go over where to procure the fresh flowers for the next classes. However, we will be spending a small amount of time designing. All you will need to bring is scissors or clippers, 3-5 fresh flower stems (like one SMALL bunch of flowers from the grocery store) and a vase that you LOVE and have at home.

Week 2: All About Greenery Creating beautiful designs with just greenery and a few flowers. Understanding the many uses of greenery. Identifying and classifying greenery.

Week 3: Color Theory and the Seven Keys Learning the "7 Keys to a Goof-Proof Design" and applying it to a front-sided floral arrangement.

Week 4: Creating Lines In Floral Design Designing a centerpiece with implied lines.
