This class is the first step toward becoming certified with AAPC (CPC). After this class it is highly recommended to complete the AAPC Course.
Job Options after Certification: coder in a physician's office, staffing facility or other healthcare area.
Training includes: ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, Medicare/Medicaid billing and coding procedures.
PRE-REQUISITES: HS Diploma or GED, Medical Terminology and Fundamentals of Anatomy
Provides training for individuals seeking billing and coding positions in physicians' offices, staffing facilities and in other healthcare arenas. Covers CPT and ICD-10-CM coding.
What is coding?
Medical coding transforms medical services, procedures, and diagnosis into number codes. These codes are assigned by the medical coder based on the information in the patient's medical record. Codes are necessary in order to obtain reimbursement from third-party payers as well as provide statistical data for research and development.
PREREQUISITE: Participants must have successfully completed Medical Terminology and Fundamentals of Anatomy or have previously taken and can provide a transcript.

*Must take Medical Terminology online course and Fundamentals of Anatomy online course.
This class is virtual and will meet via zoom at designated times set by the insructor (typically evenings). Other instruction will be online.
