Course Description

General surgery is a discipline that requires knowledge of and familiarity with a broad spectrum of diseases that may require surgical treatment, including a variety of approaches, depending on what procedure is being performing and the anatomic location. Review the codes that describe these surgical procedures, as well as codes for anesthesia.

OBJECTIVES:
--Identify the major procedures performed within general surgery.
--Identify the organs upon which general surgery is performed.
--Identify how and when anesthesia codes are used.
--Identify the physical status modifiers and know how they apply.
