Course Description

Effective as of February 1, 2010 as stated by South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Dentistry.

Students will be required to complete and submit an Application for Certification and a fee of $25.00 to the Board of Dentistry as soon as you register to take the Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Monitoring course. The application may be accessed at the Board's website at:, click on "Applications/Forms" and scroll down to the "Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Application." This four-hour course is designed to teach dental hygienists and dental assistants the proper procedure for monitoring nitrous oxide-oxygen administered in the dental office.

NOTE: Must be or have one of the following -
1. Certificate as a dental hygienist or dental assistant from a ADA school.
2. DANB Certification.
3. Are an OJT dental assistant who has been on the job for at least 2 years.

Please call Rhonda at 864-250-8338 to schedule a time to pick up your Nitrous Oxide manual and DVD. Please view the video and review the manual prior to class. The DVD must be returned to the instructor at the time of class.

NOTE! MUST call Rhonda at 864-250-8338, to OBTAIN A COPY OF THE BOOK AND VIDEO 7 DAYS IN ADVANCE OF COURSE and MUST PREVIEW AND STUDY PRIOR TO START OF COURSE. Bring the video to class and return it to the instructor. Certificate of completion of the course will not be issued if the video is not returned. State test given after class. Students must be a registered Dental Hygienist, an Expanded Dental Assistant or an OJT Dental Assistant who has been on the job for at least 2 consecutive years. Must have CPR Certification.
